LEGAL LITERACY PROGRAM HELD IN VRINDAVAN

The legal literacy program was attended by the women of all five villages adopted by Guild for Service in Vrindavan as under:

The legal literacy program was organized by Guild for Service on 9th January 2010 at Gopalgarh, Vrindavan, Uttar Pradesh . The program was attended by distinguished speakers and dignitaries who addressed a gathering of around 250 women.

The main objective of the program was to spread awareness about the legal rights amongst the women of the five villages adopted by Guild For Service.

The legal literacy program began with an introduction where all our members and participants were welcomed with an inspirational‘empowerment song’.

After introduction, the gathering was briefed about the various active initiatives taken by Guild for Service and the activities carried out for the marginalized women to bring about empowerment and self-reliance amongst them.

Justice Chandrabhan Singh gave a motivational introduction to the program and informed the women about their rights. He also shared the importance of we all coming together to put an end to the harassments against women. The participants were informed about the Domestic Violence Act 2005 that would help the women to get justice against all kinds of harassments they face.

Later, Shri H.N Gandhi, Manager, Justice Sunanda Bhandare Foundation, gave an introduction about the Justice Sunanda Bhandare Foundation to all the participants. Also speaking in the language that the women of Vrindavan understand, he explained the inner strengths and the importance of the role that women plays in our society. The attention was also drawn towards the various issues related to women with a good blend of intellect and sensitivity that include:

The speech by Shri Gandhi was enlightening and provided a source of motivation to the women present for the program. Also, Advocate Usha Solanki spoke about the rights of the women. She explained the need for women to stand up for their rights and voice against injustice.

The information shared by the eminent personalities was encouraging and enlightening to the women present.

After the speeches were over, many women voiced their problems to the eminent speakers. This was observed as a positive response to the program held in order to bridge the gap between the women and their knowledge about the basic rights.

Smt Kumud Kohli thanked all the dignitaries, media and participants for their contribution towards making the legal literacy program a success.

After the program, snacks were distributed to all the participants present.
